Dogs left in hot cars in the summer heat COULD DIE.
Dogs Minder is taking this opportunity before the warm weather
arrives, hopefully, to warn dog owners about the risk,
cruelty and serious consequences of leaving their pet dogs
in a car on hot summer days. Leaving car windows open or
supplying the animal with a bowl of water in the belief that
it will prevent the animal from suffering, is a popular
misconception .
Unfortunately, open windows or water will not stop
suffering, even if animals are left for only a short period,
with temperatures in a car soaring to 120 degrees Fahrenheit
or 49 Celsius, the dog will have difficulty breathing and
may suffer heatstroke. Owners can face prosecution from the
police or RSPCA for inflicting unnecessary suffering to
their dog.

A Personal Experience.........Taking Dogs To France
by John & Viv Walker
Lots of us like to take our dogs on holiday but balk at
taking them abroad. Provided you plan ahead, the experience
may not be as bad as you fear.
France in particular seems to be more dog friendly than the
UK with a great number of hotels, restaurants and holiday
cottages accepting pets.

Dog Microchipping.
Every year more than 300,000 animals go astray in the UK
alone. Most of them cannot be returned home because their
owners cannot be identified. The lucky ones end up in an
animal home.
Microchipping is the most effective way of identifying a
lost pet, chips don't come off like collars can.
Each microchip has a unique number which is stored on a
national database owned by the Kennel Club called PetLog. A
quick scan of the chip by a dog warden, shelter or Vet
reveals the owner's name and address and contact numbers
from the database's records therefore reuniting the animal
with its owner quickly with the minimum amount of stress for
all involved
